Callaway X Forged Vintage Wedge (Square Groove) Review

I own two of these wedges:
56 degree Sand Wedge
62 degree Lob Wedge

After one year of owning them, they've started to get that distinctive rusty look to them.For those that don't know, a vintage wedge will rust over the years and this rusting effect adds extra "grippy-ness" for when the ball makes contact with the wedge's surface.

To be prefectly frank, I'm not good enough of a player to notice any difference in my game that "rust" will make an effect but I must say that these wedges add a distinctiveness to your bag and I really don't know if I could play golf without them.

There's a few things you should look for in these wedges - you don't have to have all of these things but knowing about them can help you customize:

C-Grind -- this means that the back bottom of the wedge has been ground.Experts say that this keeps the wedge from bouncing when it gets used on grass...mine aren't C-Ground and I prefer them that way.

Vintage -- this means that they'll rust over time getting a really nice effect.The only way they won't rust is if you coat them in oil or something like that after every use.They don't come rusty when you buy them though.You have to "earn" that look :-)

McDaddy Grooves -- these are bigger deeper grooves which help give the golf ball added spin.I'm not good enough to where McDaddy Grooves make a difference but hey - you might.

Overall, these wedges are fantastic -- you can't go wrong with them and barring any anger fits, they should last you a lifetime.

For me, I have a pitching wedge that came with my x-forged clubs but I needed to add a sand wedge and a lob wedge.56 degree pitch is pretty standard for a sand wedge and I completed it out with a lob wedge to help me get on the green for when I just miss it.Definitely think about your wedge coverage.I think 3 is about as much as I need and any more and I'd have to start leaving some of the longer clubs out like the 3 iron or my 5 wood which I like, so 3 wedges is all I can carry.

For me, vintage is the only way to go.

Odyssey White Hot XG Marxman Blade Putter Review

Just got this putter a month ago and would not trade it for anything. I'm making 10 foot putts now with ease. If I miss it, it's a miss read. Putter has amazing feed back so much so, I already know if I'm short as soon as I hit it. I even think it gives you some time for correction. I'm usually a bogey golfer with a best score of 86. Callaway FT Fairway Wood (Neutral) Review

I own two of these guys with graphite shafts: a 3 wood and a 5 wood.I've owned them for about a year and I can report that they're fantastic.Very well constructed, light, made of multipler materials.Of all my clubs, I have to say that my FT woods are probably the easiest to hit consistently.

If you're considering whether to use hybrids to replace woods - I would urge you to reconsider. For me at least, woods provide a very relaxed swing, almost a sweep vs the dig down of irons and I find them overall comfortable.

From a manly standpoint, nobody will look at your crosseyed if you bring out one of these FT woods to bear on the fairway -- pull out a hybrid and who knows what looks you'll get.

Yes, these are pricey but I think that these guys will be in your arsenal for a long time so an investment here will go a long way.

I prefer the neutral (it comes in a draw variety too) but overall, I'd rather work with a neutral wood and try to correct whatever I'm doing wrong rather than engineer the club around me, but that's a personal choice -- and you get quite a bit of customization available on these clubs.

Enjoy, you won't find a finer fairway than this.

Fusion Technology employs a philosophy called Complete Inertial Design (CID), in which Callaway engineers considered all of the club's characteristics collectively and created a design that balances those characteristics while optimizing performance. The key to CID is to avoid focusing on one characteristic at the expense of the club's overall performance. One major element of CID, for example, is to increase the stability of the clubhead, which is measured in terms of MOI. By raising the MOI on both the vertical and horizontal axes, and by positioning the weight to the perimeter of the clubhead, Callaway engineers were able to add stability to balls struck around the edges of the clubface. And because the clubhead rotates less during these swings, golfers lose less ball speed--helping the ball travel longer distances--and the ball goes straighter on off-center hits.
In addition, Callaway included an OptiFit Weighting System in the FT fairway wood, letting golfers choose a club that suits their specific swings by offering three center of gravity (CG) locations in most lofts: draw, to promote a draw or reduce a slice/fade; neutral, for maximum workability; or fade, to promote a fade or reduce a hook/draw. For example, if you naturally leave the clubface open at impact and hit a fade or slice, the draw-weighting configuration will create corrective spin to counteract that flaw. The result is straighter and longer shots. In the process, Callaway still preserves the playability benefits of S2H2 and Tru-Bore technologies. S2H2 is a patented design that shortens the length of the hosel, allowing the weight to move lower and to the more useful perimeter weight of the clubhead. Callaway further improved the design by allowing the shaft tip to extend through the hosel and clubhead to the sole. This bore-through design improves the feel and control of the club, helping you swing with confidence every round.

Callaway Big Bertha Recycled Golf Balls (36 Pack) Review

I've purchased used golf balls (I'm a 12 handicap), for quite a while and from different vendors.In terms of used balls, these have very good quality... none of the 36 I received had scratches (not one tiny scratch)! ... some had marks (sharpe marks) or logos, but for the most, they were top quality.Most were practically new.

Callaway Double Magnetic Driver Head Cover Review

I bought the Callaway Magnetic driver cover because I wanted the ease of the slip on with magnetic closure. It does work though I don't think the magnet is quite as strong as it should be.I have to position the cover just right so the magnetic sides will contact and hold on the club.
If your bag doesn't have the individual dividers and if you have graphite shafts you probably want to stick to the the longer head cover to protect the shafts
